Hard to get too excited about an Optometrist when you are almost 63, especially in my case never worn glasses before. Just going in for the regular eye test. However, if the Optometrist is a professional optimist as well as in Dr Ali and staff @ Lynbrook Optical in SE Melbourne, happens to be near great food, coffee and loads of free parking, then I know I won’t go anywhere else.. and they bulk bill.. yay

The best optical clinic/store I’ve dealt with in my 30 years of wearing eyeglasses. Dr Ali is very knowledgeable and thorough in examining my complicated eyes. Took time to listen to my problem of having just one eyeglasses that is multifocal, can be used for both computer work and driving, shopping etc. And he gave it to me! Now I got a very stylish Calvin Klein multifocal, transition eyeglasses that I can wear everywhere. Soo happy. Thank you so much!

Eye tests at Lynbrook Optical are bulk billed which means that there are no out-of-pocket costs for a comprehensive eye examination for eligible medicare card holders. If you are not registered with Medicare the eye test will cost $78 and we will provide you an invoice to claim this back through your private health insurance.
The duration of an eye exam can vary depending on your individual needs and the specific tests that are performed. On average a comprehensive eye exam can take up to 30 minutes, a little longer if you need dilating eye drops for a broader retinal check.
Yes, we do recommend that you make an appointment prior to visiting. This helps us ensure that we can provide you with the best possible service and attention during your visit. You can easily book an appointment online or give us a call.
In most cases you will be able to drive after a routine eye test, however, there are some circumstances that require the eye doctor to use dilating eye drops fro a wider retinal check. Your optometrist will inform you on the day if you need any drops which will temporarily impair your vision or ability to drive. If you cant have them on the day we can always schedule a review appointment to have the procedure done.
Yes. Our optometrists are therapeutically endorsed to prescribe schedule 4 topical medications to treat eye conditions including infection, allergy, and glaucoma. This also means we can use drops to dilate the pupil for the recommended yearly eye exam for all diabetics.
No. Optometrists are considered primary care providers and no referral is needed. Just book an appointment online or call us.
